About this case

Restaurant server carrying plated meals to a table

Who We Want to Hear From

Servers, food runners, and other tipped staff who worked at any Anna’s House location in Michigan. Current and former employees.

What This Case Alleges

Paying servers a reduced tipped wage without proper tip credit notice, figuring overtime off the tipped wage instead of minimum wage, unpaid mandatory training (including alcohol certification and app modules), and side work paid at the tipped rate.

Violations alleged in the complaint

The lawsuit claims Anna’s House broke federal and Michigan wage laws in four ways:

  1. Tip credit taken without proper notice. Servers and other tipped staff were paid a reduced cash wage ($5.49 an hour in 2026) instead of the full $13.73 Michigan minimum wage, without first receiving the written tip credit notice the law requires.
  2. Overtime figured off the tipped wage. Overtime pay was allegedly calculated from the reduced tipped wage instead of the full minimum wage, shorting workers on every overtime hour.
  3. Unpaid mandatory training. Required training, including alcohol service certification and app-based training modules, was allegedly not paid.
  4. Side work paid at the tipped rate. Non-tipped side work such as cleaning, prep, and rolling silverware was allegedly paid at the lower tipped wage instead of full minimum wage.

These are allegations. The court has not yet decided whether Anna’s House violated the law.

Michigan’s minimum wage is $13.73 an hour in 2026. An employer can only pay tipped staff a lower cash wage if it follows strict written notice rules first. When it doesn’t, workers may be owed the full minimum wage for every hour worked. Find out in a free, confidential review.
